this is what i found...

...on my couch after folding laundry early this afternoon.

Gabby had fallen asleep and Payton covered her up with her blankie to make sure she was warm...*sigh*. This is why I love being a stay-at-home-mom. For moments like this. To be busy around the house, and then to find a little sleeping angel in the living room. To see a big sister take care of her little sister. I truly am so grateful to be able to stay home with my kids. It breaks my heart to think of missing these precious little moments that are so important in the grand scheme of things. I love being at home. I never was one of those career-driven people...I always ultimately wanted to be a mama and to be home with my kids. Yes, there are hard days. When I've spent a whole day cleaning only to find an entire bag of goldfish crackers scattered across the kitchen floor, and four little feet and "crunching" all over the crackers. But it's the giggling that goes along with all of that "crunching" that makes it worth it. There are days when I feel like I haven't left the house in ages, and when I wonder what it would be like to have a conversation with an adult. Days when I am so tired that all I want to do is crash on the couch, but my girls convince me that it will be much more fun to play Polly Pockets.

I wouldn't give this up for anything. I am very lucky to have a husband that is able to provide for our little family so that I can stay home with the girls. But even so, staying home has been a choice. It is a very personal decision and I realize that all family's are different. I admire and respect mothers that work and are still able to take care of their family. There are only so many hours in the day and I truly marvel and what some moms are able to accomplish!

As for me, this is what works right now. My husband works and I stay home. Like I said, I wouldn't give up these precious years for anything. I have heard so many times that "they just grow up too quickly" and I want to know that I was there for every minute.

Off to watch Diego.

I totally agree that it is such a blessing to be able to stay home with your children and enjoy all those little moments! I know I wouldn't want it any other way! And she looks so sweet with her little soother in her mouth!

I couldn't agree more. It seems sometimes like we have to apologize for staying home or something. I don't get it. It's a wonderful blessing to be able to stay home, but it definitely is a choice. And I know your girls are going to benefit greatly from having your guiding influence each day.

The goldfish comment made me laugh (and the Polly Pockets as well).

This is the sweetest post! (and picture!) :)
My hubby and I work opposite shifts, and I've cut back to part time, to keep our little girl out of daycare. It is so worth it...no amount of material goods could ever make up for those sweet little minutes for us! I wish all Mamas could stay home with their babies.

Hey Talia,
i could not agree more with you. even though i do not have children, but am going to be getting married this september it is something my fiancee and i have discussed thoroughly and i am blessed in that he completely supports that decision (in staying at home) with our children one day. Money is money and if that means i have to go without, i am completely fine and at peace with that. Nothing could ever replace those first few years until they begin school. After reading a new earth it totally solidified this decision for me. so many people live in the past, or are chasing the future. so many forget to live in the now. When that now comes i want to be able to sit back and relish the small little joys that you are experiencing!

Being home with kids is such a blessing. I love it. It's funny how when we tell someone "what we do" when someone else asks, we are quick to say, I'm just a mom. We should definetly be more proud of that, because it is the best job of all. good for you, i love hearing from SAHM's.

I just wanted to let you know I used your diaper cake idea from the shower you gave Kim. I saved a picture of that cake in case I had the occasion to use it someday. I gave a shower yesterday for my friend who is having twins and made that cake and also a fun banner similar to the one you made for Payton's birthday party. Thanks for your fun ideas. (Pictures posted on my blog.)
